Abused Neglected Abandoned
Injured or Sick
We take an animal in every 3.5 minutes
The Animal Welfare Act which came into force in England and Wales in 2007 means that at last RSPCA Inspectors can do their job when they see ill-treated animals. Previously, we had to wait for proof that an animal was suffering before we could step in.
This Act led to a 12% upsurge in cases for us to investigate. But now we’re seeing the animal victims of the credit crunch. In the last year the number of animals abandoned across England and Wales has soared by 57 per cent and RSPCA Animal Centres are bursting at the seams. The need is very real, and very urgent.
We understand this is a difficult time for many people. But although we operate just like an emergency service, the RSPCA relies entirely on public support for all our work in England and Wales. The animals must not suffer. We need your help – perhaps a gift of £3 a month – to cope with this critical situation.
Tim Wass
Chief Officer, RSPCA Inspectorate
This appeal from Tim Wass, Chief Officer, RSPCA Inspectorate, was filmed at the RSPCA’s Birmingham Animal Centre in January 2009. Thanks to our dedicated staff, filming costs were minimal, and EVERY penny raised will go to help the RSPCA save even MORE animals in the biggest animal rescue ever.
